Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is hiring a Patient Access Specialist to join our patient-centered team on a Friday–Monday night schedule (5:30pm–3:30am). The role focuses on delivering outstanding customer service, accurate data collection, and scheduling across NMHC systems while maintaining HIPAA compliance.

Responsibilities include verifying insurance, assisting patients with appointments, and supporting departments with information flow.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years customer service or medical office experience.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in computer data-entry/typing.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to Patients First philosophy and maintains high customer service standards.
• Responds to questions and concerns and escalates issues as needed.
• Collects patient demographics and schedules appointments across NMHC systems.
• Performs medical necessity checks and informs patients of options if appointments fail.
• Ensures patient data privacy and HIPAA compliance.
