Job summary

UnitedHealth Group seeks a team-focused professional to verify patient insurance, collect co-pays, and manage clinic-related workflows at multiple sites in MA. You will support billing and scheduling, interact with patients, and coordinate with providers to ensure accurate records and timely referrals.

You will handle sensitive information with care, maintain documentation, and participate in ongoing training to meet regulatory standards and company policies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1+ years of customer service or healthcare-related experience.
• Access to reliable transportation and a valid US driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Verifies, re-verifies and authorizes patient insurance coverage and eligibility using registration/scheduling systems.
• Verifies and updates demographic, insurance and other patient information.
• Collects and posts patient co-payments and balances; tracks encounter forms.
• Batches and submits forms to the appropriate billing area.
• Maintains records and makes daily cash deposits as assigned.
• Handles patient-care related telephone calls and provides routine information.
• Identifies priorities and responds to emergencies by contacting providers per guidelines.
• Resolves questions about clinic schedules and billing concerns.
• Documents information in computer systems; prepares patient charts and tests results.
• Updates Telephone Message System and routes messages to appropriate personnel.
• Enters referrals and ensures referral numbers are linked in the system.
• Provides patient education on managed care plans and referral processes.
• Works with primary care and specialty practices to process referrals before visits.
• Interfaces with staff and patients regarding referrals denied and assists with alternate plans.
• Maintains recall lists and communicates with patients as appropriate.
• May handle lab/dx results and escort patients as needed; processes routine admin paperwork.
• Guides department personnel on administrative policies; adheres to safety/regulatory requirements.
