Job summary

Shamin Hotels is seeking a Guest Service Agent in Midlothian, VA. The role handles check-ins/outs, reservations, guest inquiries, and area recommendations, while processing payments and maintaining guest records.

The position operates on the afternoon shift (3 pm-11 pm) with hourly pay in the $16.50–$17.50 range. A strong emphasis on service quality and teamwork is essential to deliver memorable guest experiences.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a front desk agent preferred.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize and manage time effectively.
• Reliable transportation.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Excellent communication and guest service skills.

Responsibilities

• Greets, registers, and assigns rooms to guests.
• Issues room key and escort instructions to Bell person or guest, without announcing room numbers.
• Date-stamps, sorts and racks incoming mail and messages.
• Transmits and receives messages using telephone, fax and switchboard.
• Answers inquiries pertaining to hotel services, registration of guests and local recommendations.
• Keeps records of room availability and guests’ accounts.
• Computes bill, collects payment and makes change for guests.
• May make, confirm and cancel reservations for guests.
• Posts charges such as room, food, liquor or telephone by hand or machine.
• May arrange restaurant, transportation or entertainment reservations for guests.
• May deposit guests’ valuables in hotel safe or safe-deposit box.
• Understands and enforces the hotel company credit policies.
• Accounts for all cash and makes deposits per policy.
• Communicates with other front office and hotel departments.
• Takes the initiative to greet guests warmly.
• Cross-sells other Shamin Hotels.
• Performs other related duties as required.
