Job summary

HDR is seeking an EV Charging Infrastructure Design Lead/Manager to deliver charging infrastructure projects including public, workplace, and fleet charging. The role emphasizes client relationship management, multi-disciplinary coordination, and leadership in design production and engineering delivery.

The position requires a Master’s in Electrical Engineering, a NY PE license, and 8+ years in the field, with strong AutoCAD/Civil 3D skills and willingness to travel nationally.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or similar field.
• 8+ years in civil engineering or energy utilities, electrical engineering, or similar field.
• Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in NY.
• A/E project management or lead experience; EV field preferred.
• Strong knowledge of industry practices and regulations.
• Excellent organizational, research, and analytical skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of transportation electrification infrastructure design and implementation projects.
• Prepare EVSE site designs and technical reports; perform site assessments and due diligence.
• Coordinate with electrical engineers, sub-consultants, and contractors; ensure regulatory compliance.
• Produce high-quality drawings and models using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Mentor junior staff and grow design production capacity; engage with clients and internal teams.
• Prepare proposals, scope development, and fee estimation; support new project pursuits.
