Job summary

HDR is seeking an EV Charging Infrastructure Design Lead/Manager to lead the delivery of transportation electrification projects, including public, workplace, and fleet charging infrastructure. You will manage multi-disciplinary teams, develop site designs, and coordinate with clients and sub-consultants.

Lead the design effort using AutoCAD and Civil 3D, mentor staff, pursue new business opportunities, and travel as needed to support project delivery across HDR's U.S. network.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar field.
• 8+ years of experience in the civil engineering or energy industry, utilities, electrical engineering, or similar field.
• Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in NY.
• Prior experience in EV field is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of industry practices and regulations.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage projects and tasks of varying complexity including multi-disciplinary scope, schedule, and budget.
• Prepare detailed EVSE site designs and technical reports.
• Undertake site assessments and due diligence analysis; incorporate electrical equipment designs from other team members.
• Use AutoCAD and Civil 3D to produce high-quality drawings and models.
• Coordinate with electrical engineers and other disciplines, including sub-consultants and contractors.
• Ensure all work complies with relevant regulations, standards, and guidelines.
• Lead the growth of technical expertise and design production capacity through staff development, coordination, training, and mentorship.
• Engage with external clients and internal project managers, market sector leads, business group managers, and HDR for project delivery expertise.
• Prepare proposals, including scope development and estimating hours and fees, coordinating with other discipline leads.
• Willingness to travel intermittently, nationally, as necessary.
