Job summary

CDM Smith seeks an experienced estimator to perform basic to moderately complex estimating tasks across diverse construction projects. You will use Timberline to prepare cost opinions and collaborate with project managers, subcontractors, and procurement teams.

The role includes pre-bid participation, preparing submittals, and supporting field teams. Required is a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline with about 3 years of related experience.

• Excellent computation skills and ability to read and interpret drawings.
• Strong communication and time management abilities.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic to moderately complex estimating tasks including quantity take-offs and cost research.
• Uses Timberline to prepare Opinions of Probable Cost of Construction (OPCC).
• Researches historical data and prepares summary reports to guide future estimates.
• Coordinate pricing with project managers or procurement teams and compare against OPCCs.
• Engage subcontractors and suppliers for current pricing and bidder interest.
• Participates in pre-bid walks and Bid-Day quote tabulations.
• Provide technical and field support to project personnel and supervise small project components.
• Prepare and review submittals, issue construction documents, and respond to field questions.
• Prepare baselines schedules and cost analyses, developing Work Breakdown Structures and activity durations.
• Update project schedules with actual progress and changes through the project controls team.
