Qualifications

• Ability to verify insurance benefits and collect applicable payments.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills with attention to confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist patients, families, and visitors in the Emergency Room with professionalism and urgency.
• Complete patient registration, collecting and verifying demographic, insurance, and financial data.
• Verify insurance eligibility and update records using electronic tools or payer contact.
• Determine and collect co-pays, deductibles, or deposits; explain financial assistance when needed.
• Collaborate with clinical and security teams to prioritize intake and maintain flow.
• Enter and maintain patient data in the EMR and registration systems; fix duplicates as needed.
• Respond promptly to inquiries with empathy; maintain confidentiality and HIPAA standards.
• Stay informed on payer guidelines and hospital policies; support process improvements.
• Train new staff when applicable and provide backup support to other Patient Access areas.
• Perform other duties as assigned; duties listed are examples and not exclusive.
