Job summary

Mortenson is seeking an Equipment Specialist (Non-Traveler) to support project teams with equipment orders, inventory, and supplier coordination. This role focuses on building strong customer relationships and facilitating efficient equipment processes across the organization.

The position emphasizes accurate inventory control, data reporting, and collaboration with field staff, buyers, and leadership. It requires adaptability, travel readiness, and a proactive approach to problem solving.

Qualifications

• Associates degree and 1+ years of rental equipment, construction, and/or related professional experience or 2+ years of the same relevant experience
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Superior attention to detail and accuracy
• Positive and professional attitude with strong customer service skills
• Ability to assess and prioritize multiple customer needs
• Working knowledge of purchasing/rental processes and procedures
• Strong organization and planning skills
• Ability to influence
• Active listening and effective communication with diverse input
• Ability to travel 100%
• Bachelor's degree (preferred)
• Experience with billing software (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Receive and process equipment facility orders and returns from the field
• Source equipment internally and through 3rd party rental and service suppliers
• Generate purchase orders for equipment purchases and rentals
• Reconcile and process billing of contracts, invoices, and work orders daily
• Support electronic inventory management
• Support physical inventory management on project sites or within equipment facilities
• Update Task Code and Off-Rent date as needed with input from project teams
• Produce inventory management reports and perform quality control
• Interpret on rent and forecast reports
• Lead Pre-Mob meetings with site leadership
• Lead monthly equipment review meetings with project and accounting teams
• Support LEAN / 5S initiatives
• Coordinate with EF craft teams on equipment plans
• Forecast review meetings with project teams and trade partners
• Reconcile fleet invoicing with accounting, fleet vendors and project teams
• Provide equipment solutions and maintenance recommendations
• Facilitate vehicle ordering for teams
• Handle DOT registrations and inquiries
• Participate in equipment facility safety programs
• Dispatch and schedule equipment deliveries
• Build relationships across diverse backgrounds
