Job summary

CDM Smith in the United States is seeking an Environmental Scientist/Environmental Risk Assessor to support Human Health and Ecological projects within the Environmental Services Group. The role focuses on regulatory compliance efforts for federal, state, and local environmental programs across CDM Smith’s portfolio.

You will collaborate with scientists, engineers and toxicologists, assist with risk assessments, develop QAPPs and SAPs, and mentor junior staff while contributing to client-facing

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Science or related discipline with professional scientist registration/certification OR Master's degree in Science or related discipline.
• 7 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
• Equivalent additional related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Support site investigations and data interpretation for human health risk assessments (HHRAs) and ecological risk assessments (ERAs).
• Develop data quality objectives (DQOs), Quality Assurance Project Plans (QAPPs), and sampling and analysis plans (SAPs).
• Plan for and prepare conceptual site exposure models (CSEMs), HHRAs, SLERAs, and BERAs of basic to high complexity.
• Collaborate with scientists, geologists, engineers, and toxicologists on project approaches.
• Provide technical guidance and mentor junior staff.
• Support proposals in response to client RFPs with sales staff.
• Contribute to firm knowledge by developing white papers on emerging environmental issues.
• Attend conferences and present to improve the visibility of the firm’s products and services.
