Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an Environmental Scientist/Environmental Risk Assessor to support Human Health and Ecological projects within the Environmental Services Group. The role focuses on regulatory compliance for federal, state, and local environments and involves collaborative work across multidisciplinary teams.

You will assist with exposure models, risk assessments, QA plans, and data interpretation while mentoring junior staff and contributing to client proposals and technical papers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Science or related discipline with professional scientist registration/certification OR Master's degree in Science or related discipline.
• 7 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Supports site investigations and interpretation of data for human health and ecological risk assessments.
• Develops data quality objectives (DQOs), QA/QC Plans (QAPPs), and sampling and analysis plans (SAPs).
• Plans for exposure models and risk assessments (CSEMs, HHRAs, SLERAs, BERAs).
• Collaborates with scientists, engineers, and toxicologists to advise on project approach and implementation.
• Provides technical evaluation of project documents and supports client meetings.
• Mentors junior staff and supports training within the discipline and firm.
• Supports proposals and client requests for proposals (RFPs).
• Contributes to firm knowledge with white papers on emerging environmental issues.
• Attends conferences and symposia to promote firm services.
• Performs other duties as required.
