Job summary

Saia LTL Freight is seeking a Terminal Operations Clerk to support daily operations with clerical and customer service tasks, ensuring shipment documentation is accurate and properly processed in a fast-paced terminal environment in Des Moines.

You will handle paperwork, data entry, calls, and coordination with drivers and operations staff; a high school diploma, English proficiency, and familiarity with Microsoft Office will help you succeed in this role.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Authorized to work in the United States.
• Read, write, communicate and comprehend English.
• Preferred: transportation, customer service, or related experience.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Prepares, prints, scans, and organizes documentation for terminal operations and dispatch.
• Maintains accurate filing and recordkeeping systems for shipments and terminal records.
• Bundles and distributes paperwork for outbound shipments in coordination with operations staff.
• Reviews outbound load paperwork to ensure accuracy before dispatch.
• Handles inbound calls and emails to provide timely resolution and a positive customer experience.
• Arranges dock pickups and dock drops for customers in coordination with operations staff.
• Provides assistance and support to internal and external drivers for the line haul department.
• Identifies paperwork or process issues, escalating as needed to prevent delays, and assists with administrative projects or special tasks as assigned.
