CannonDesign is seeking an HVAC design engineer in Buffalo, NY to join a multidisciplinary team. You will assist with ductwork, piping, controls, and equipment selection under the supervision of a licensed engineer, contributing to energy modeling and BIM tasks for educational, healthcare, corporate, and science sectors.

The role emphasizes building load calculations, energy models, and coordination with plumbing and fire protection designs, with site visits to verify conditions and progress.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master’s degree in Engineering required by hire date. ABET accredited preferred.
• Knowledge of heat transfer, solar energy, and fluid dynamics in HVAC design.
• Related internship experience preferred.
• EIT, LEED accreditation preferred.
• Experience with Revit, Trane Trace or Trane 3D Plus preferred.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision of a professional engineer may perform uncomplicated designs of ductwork, piping, controls and equipment selection for HVAC systems.
• Assist with Plumbing and Fire Protection Designs as necessary.
• Prepare Building Load Calculations using modeling software.
• May prepare Energy Models using appropriate software.
• Assist in Revit/BIM modeling of construction drawings from schematic design to construction administration.
• Review submittals and shop drawings for compliance with contract documents.
• May perform site visits to verify conditions and observe construction progress.
