Job summary

CannonDesign is seeking an HVAC/Building Systems engineer to join a multi-disciplinary team in Chicago. You will work under the direction of a licensed engineer on projects spanning educational, healthcare, corporate and science/tech facilities.

Responsibilities include HVAC design, load calculations and BIM modeling from schematic to construction administration. The role requires a degree in engineering (ABET preferred), knowledge of heat transfer and fluid dynamics, and experience with Revit

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master’s degree in Engineering (ABET accredited preferred).
• Knowledge of heat transfer, solar energy and fluid dynamics for HVAC design.
• Related internship experience preferred.
• EIT or LEED accreditation preferred.
• Strong communication, teamwork and ability to handle multiple projects.
• Experience with Revit, Trane Trace or Trane 3D Plus preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform uncomplicated HVAC designs under supervision of a licensed engineer.
• Prepare Building Load Calculations using modeling software under supervision.
• May prepare Energy Models with supervisory oversight.
• Assist in Revit/BIM modeling of HVAC systems from schematic design to construction administration.
• Coordinate with specifications as part of the design team.
• Write draft reports to be reviewed by a senior engineer.
• Review submittals and shop drawings for contract compliance.
• May perform site visits to verify conditions and observe progress.
