Job summary

CannonDesign is seeking an entry to mid-level HVAC engineer in Arlington, VA. You will work under a licensed engineer on projects across education, healthcare, corporate, and science sectors. Responsibilities include designing ductwork, piping, controls, and equipment, plus BIM modeling in Revit.

The role requires an engineering degree (ABET preferred), strong communication, and collaborative skills. AIT/energy modeling experience is a plus, with flexible benefits and potential remote options.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master’s degree in Engineering required by hire date.
• ABET accreditation is preferred for the program.
• Knowledge of heat transfer, solar energy, and fluid dynamics for HVAC design.
• Related internship experience is preferred.
• EIT accreditation is preferred.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Undertake uncomplicated HVAC system designs under supervision.
• Prepare building load calculations using modeling software.
• Assist with energy modeling and RevIT/BIM modeling for HVAC/plumbing/fire protection.
• Coordinate with design team and assist with specifications.
• Review submittals and shop drawings for conformance.
