Job summary

CannonDesign is seeking an HVAC design professional to join our multi-disciplinary team in Buffalo. You will work under the direction of a licensed Engineer on projects including new construction and renovations in educational, healthcare, corporate, and science sectors.

You’ll help with ductwork and piping designs, load calculations, energy modeling, and BIM workflows using Revit, with oversight from senior staff. Strong communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master’s degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program preferred.
• Knowledge and ability to apply principles and theories of advanced heat transfer, solar energy, and advanced fluid dynamics in HVAC design.
• Related internship experience preferred.
• EIT, LEED accreditation preferred.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
• Experience using engineering design software (Revit, Trane Trace, Trane 3D Plus) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision of a professional engineer, perform uncomplicated HVAC system designs for buildings.
• Prepare Building Load Calculations using modeling software.
• May prepare Energy Models with supervisory oversight.
• Assist in Revit/BIM modeling from schematic design to construction administration.
• Coordinate specifications with the design team.
• Draft reports for review by a senior engineer.
• Review submittals and shop drawings for contract conformity.
• Occasional site visits to verify conditions and observe progress.
