Job summary

CannonDesign in Buffalo, NY is seeking a seasoned HVAC Design Engineer to lead ductwork and equipment selection on varied projects. You will work under a licensed engineer, directing mechanical design and coordinating with clients and the project team.

You will model in Revit/BIM, estimate loads, and review drawings and specifications across design to construction phases. A PE and LEED credentials are preferred, with strong communication and multitasking abilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master’s degree in Engineering required; ABET accreditation preferred.
• Minimum of 6 years of related experience.
• Current PE in the United States preferred.
• LEED accreditation preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Able to effectively handle multiple projects.
• Experience in engineering design software (Revit, Trane Trace, Trane 3D Plus).

Responsibilities

• Perform and direct design of ductwork, piping and equipment selection for HVAC systems on assigned projects.
• Supervise or provide project management direction within the mechanical discipline.
• Calculate heating and cooling loads and design ductwork and piping.
• Prepare Revit/BIM models of HVAC systems through all project phases.
• Edit specifications and respond to emergent issues.
• Research and respond to RFIs; review change orders.
• Coordinate with clients and project team; participate in Owner/Architect/Construction meetings.
• Conduct site visits to verify conditions and observe progress.
