Job summary

TEKsystems seeks an entry-level Level 1 Help Desk Technician in Huntsville, AL, for a contract-to-hire role. The incumbent handles high-volume IT support via phone, email, or chat, resolving password resets, software installs, and basic hardware issues.

Training lasts 4–6 weeks with weekend work required after training; the Tier II path requires either CS education or two related certifications. Compensation starts at $15.50/hour, with benefits and a future conversion option.

Qualifications

• 4-6 weeks of paid training.
• After training, schedules require working on Sat or Sun or both with two days off back-to-back during the week.
• Tier II qualifications: AA or completed education in CS or related IT field; or two certifications in A+, Sec+, Net+ or CCNA.

Responsibilities

• Respond to and resolve a high volume of initial IT support requests via phone, email, or chat, including password resets, software installations, and hardware troubleshooting.
• Diagnose and resolve basic hardware and software issues, including OS problems, connectivity, and user account management.
• Contribute to and utilize the internal knowledge base for common issues and solutions and provide feedback for improvement.
• Create, update, and close support tickets in IT ticketing systems with accurate documentation.
• Provide excellent customer service with a positive, professional attitude.
