Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Patient Services Representative to support the medical office by handling patient registration, insurance verification, billing collections, and scheduling. Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 0–2 years of customer service experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 1–3 years of physician office experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Greets patients and registers them, verifies insurance, collects co-pays and balances.
  • Updates patient demographic and company information.
  • Answers phones and schedules appointments.
  • Directs and documents patient calls as appropriate.
  • Coordinates outside testing for patients.
  • Acts as liaison between patient and practice.
  • Provides back-up for scheduling appointments.
  • Ensures patient safety and confidentiality in daily work.
  • Completes daily reconciliation to ensure charges are entered correctly.
  • Pulls and files charts for next day appointments.
