Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services, a Takeda subsidiary, seeks an EMT-qualified Medical Support Specialist in San Antonio, TX, to oversee donor eligibility, monitor adverse events, review lab results, and notify donors of unsuitable tests. You’ll report to the Center Manager and work under medical guidance to ensure safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent to including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
• Current EMT-B/A/I/P licensure or LPN/LVN/RN licensure in the state of responsibility.
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Complete FDA training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility including informed consent, AIDS education, self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance, physical exam, blood testing, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reactions and manage emergencies per SOPs, transport to care facilities if needed.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or guidance on medical issues.
• Support vaccination programs for employees (Hepatitis B, Seasonal Flu) as applicable.
• Manage employee incidents and determine need for occupational health evaluation; follow EHS guidance.
• Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized and assist investigations related to pandemics.
