Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services, a Takeda subsidiary, is seeking an Medical Support Specialist to determine donor eligibility, manage adverse events, review lab results, and notify donors of test results. The role operates under the Center Manager and Center Physician guidance to ensure donor safety and compliance in a plasma donation center.

The ideal candidate holds EMT or nursing licensure, CPR/AED certification, and at least two years of clinical experience, with FDA training completed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, including graduate of a recognized nursing program and state requirements.
• Currently licensed or certified in the state of assignment: EMT-B, EMT-A, EMT-I, EMT-P, LPN/LVN, or RN.
• CPR and AED certification current.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Complete FDA training as BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years of clinical or hospital experience.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility including informed consent, education, history interview, physical exam and review of tests.
• Evaluate donor reactions and provide care according to SOPs and standing orders.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on medical issues.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
• Manage employee incidents and coordinate with occupational health/EHS as needed.
• Serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized and assist investigations.
