Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services—a Takeda subsidiary—seeks a Medical Support Specialist to determine donor eligibility, manage donor safety, review lab results, and handle adverse events in a fast-paced plasma donation center. You’ll work under the Center Manager and Center Physician, ensuring regulatory compliance and high-quality donor care.

Requirements include EMT licenses (B/A/I/P), RN/LPN licensure options, CPR/AED, and 2+ years in clinical settings.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent to including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
• Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: Emergency Medical Technician -Basic (EMT-B), Advanced (EMT-A), Intermediate (EMT-I), and Paramedic (EMT-P), Licensed Practical Nurse / Licensed Vocational Nurse (LPN/LVN), and Registered Nurse (RN).
• Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements (in state of licensure) for basic IV therapy.
• Satisfactorily complete the FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility; proper management of informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing SPE.
• Evaluate donor reaction(s) as outlined in the SOPs; manage medical emergencies and donor transport.
• Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
• Manage employee incidents and determine the need for further evaluation by occupational health/ER; refer to EHS guidance.
• Serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations related to pandemics.
