Job summary

Work Opportunities Unlimited (WOU) is seeking an Employment Specialist to help individuals in Gardner, MA find meaningful employment by coaching on resumes, applications, and interview skills, and by developing local job opportunities with area businesses.

The role involves community travel (mileage reimbursed) and a Monday–Friday daytime schedule, with a competitive hourly wage and bonus opportunities. Health and wellness benefits, work/life balance, and growth prospects are offered.

Qualifications

• Must have valid driver’s license and be comfortable traveling within your local community.
• Comfortable using MS Office and documenting notes in an electronic system.
• Able to access apps on a mobile device and maintain accurate records.

Responsibilities

• Teach resume writing, job applications, cover letters, and interview preparation.
• Engage with local businesses to create job opportunities.
• Coach and guide individuals at their job sites.

As an Employment Specialist (known internally as a Career Resource Specialist) you will help individuals find meaningful employment.

A typical day might include the following:

• Working with individuals to develop career goals and objectives
• Teaching individuals how to create a customized resume, fill out effective job applications, write cover letters, and prepare for interviews
• Engaging with local businesses to develop potential job opportunities
• Coaching and guiding individuals at their job sites
• Community-based travel in your personal vehicle to facilitate community-based job development and coaching, ensuring all services are delivered directly in the local environment. (mileage reimbursement provided)
