Job summary

Work Opportunities Unlimited (WOU) is an ESOP employee-owned organization serving people with diverse skills since 1982. The Employment Specialist helps clients set career goals, builds resumes, and connects them with local employers.

Daytime, Monday–Friday hours with possible part-time flexibility. Travel within the local area is required; mileage is reimbursed, and benefits and growth opportunities are provided. Join a supportive team dedicated to improving lives daily.

Qualifications

• Experience in high-touch customer service environments.
• Comfortable documenting notes in electronic system.
• Ability to travel within local community using a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals to develop career goals and objectives.
• Teach resume writing, job applications, cover letters, and interview prep.
• Engage with local businesses to create job opportunities.
• Coach and guide individuals at job sites.
• Provide occasional transportation to interviews with mileage reimbursement.

Employment Specialist (known internally as a Career Resource Specialist)

A typical day might include the following:

• Working with individuals to develop career goals and objectives
• Teaching individuals how to create a customized resume, fill out effective job applications, write cover letters, and prepare for interviews
• Engaging with local businesses to develop potential job opportunities
• Coaching and guiding individuals at their job sites
• Provide occasional transportation to interviews and other essential employment milestones, while supporting individuals towards independent community travel. (mileage reimbursement provided)

Additional requirements include:

• Valid driver's license and comfortable traveling within your local community
• Monday - Friday, daytime business hours (flexibility offered for part-time)
• Comfortable using MS Office, documenting notes in an electronic system, and accessing apps on a mobile device
