Job summary

The Hartford is seeking an Employee Benefits Director, Relationship Management to lead the East Region team and drive retention, growth, and superior client experience. This role oversees a cohort of Relationship Managers and Client Relationship Executives, partnering with the AVP to shape and execute strategy.

Hybrid or remote work is permitted. Hartford-area offices require in-office days Tue-Thu; remote candidates may travel to Hartford offices as needed.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of Group Benefits experience, with at least five years in relationship management
• At least five years’ experience leading teams; inspirational leadership desired
• Depth of GB product knowledge and relationships
• Strong business acumen and strategic thinking
• Operational excellence: prioritization and execution
• Ability to influence cross-functional resolution and outcomes
• Willingness to travel up to 30% of time

Responsibilities

• Lead East Region Relationship Management team (Assistant Directors, Relationship Managers, Client Relationship Executives)
• Drive persistency, growth, customer satisfaction, and book-of-business performance
• Develop talent and operational excellence; execute segment strategy
• Partner with AVP and peer leaders to shape strategy
• Represent customer voice in planning, product development and enterprise decisions
• Build partnerships across Sales, Underwriting, Claims, Operations, Product and Service
• Drive renewal, add-issue, and cross-functional execution to optimize outcomes
