Job summary

The Hartford is seeking an Employee Benefits Director, Relationship Management to lead our East Region team and drive persistency, growth, and customer satisfaction across a portfolio of clients.

This role oversees a team of Assistant Directors, Relationship Managers, and Client Relationship Executives, focusing on talent development, operational excellence, and superior service. Hybrid or remote work options are available with occasional travel.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of Group Benefits experience with at least five years in relationship management.
• At least five years’ experience leading teams.
• Depth of GB product knowledge and relationships.
• Strong business acumen and strategic thinking.
• Critical thinking with operational excellence and execution.
• Ability to influence cross‑functional resolution and outcomes.
• Group Life & Health license and ongoing Continuing Education requirements.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• Willing to travel up to 30%.

Responsibilities

• Establish and execute a strategic vision for the Regional Accounts RM organization.
• Lead and develop a high‑performing team of RM leaders and professionals.
• Translate strategies into priorities, goals, and actionable plans.
• Partner with Sales, Underwriting, Claims, Operations, Product, and Service.
• Drive retention, growth, profitability, and exceptional customer experience.
• Oversee account strategies to strengthen client relationships and persistency.
• Drive renewal and cross-functional execution to optimize outcomes.
