Job summary

State of Minnesota’s Transportation Department seeks Temporary Snowplow Operators across District 6A. Positions include Transportation Generalist or Transportation Associate, with snow and ice duties, irregular shifts, nights, weekends, and possible overtime.

Applicants must have a valid CDL (A or B) with endorsements and pass pre-employment drug tests. Fluency in English and ability to report within one hour are required.

Qualifications

• CDL with no Airbrake restriction; must obtain Class A CDL with no Airbrake Restriction and Tanker Endorsement within 6 months of placement.
• Pre-placement drug test required; must pass drug tests as part of employment process.
• Working knowledge of English sufficient to read, write, speak and understand information; maintain logs and communicate with public.
• Veterans may be eligible for a waiver of CDL based on military experience. Contact county Veteran Service Officer for VMET.

Responsibilities

• Maintain roadways for snow and ice control and inspects winter equipment.
• Perform preseason snow route inspection and post-storm cleanup.
• Set up and transfer anti-icing/de-icing materials; maintain snow fences and mailboxes.
• Maintain documentation on snow and ice data for inventory and resource management.
• Perform traffic control setups and notify dispatch of disabled vehicles.
