Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Class A or B CDL with no Airbrake Restriction and Tanker Endorsement within 6 months of initial placement into the position.
• The incumbent in this position will be subject to drug and alcohol testing.
• Must also be registered in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s Commercial Driver's License Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse.
• Working knowledge of English sufficient to read, write, speak and understand oral and written information; communicate with employees and the public.
• Education coursework can substitute for one year of experience if an approved Heavy Equipment Operation and Maintenance Program is completed.
• Experience: One year in snow and ice, roadway maintenance, or related activities; or equivalent education substitutions.

Responsibilities

• Maintain roadways for snow and ice control.
• Prepare and inspect winter equipment.
• Perform preseason snow route inspection and post-storm cleanup.
• Perform winter stockpile setup and transfer of anti-icing/de-icing chemicals.
• Install, repair, maintain, and remove snow fences and mailboxes.
• Maintain documentation on snow and ice data for inventory and resource management.
• Perform traffic control set-ups and notify dispatch of disabled vehicles.
