Job summary

Minnesota State Colleges and Universities is hiring temporary snowplow operators for the Transportation Department’s Snow and Ice program. Positions are in District 6A at multiple locations with a variety of shifts and hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

CDL with tanker endorsement may be required and pre-employment checks apply. Emergency, intermittent roles may lead to full-time or part-time snow and ice shifts.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Class A or B CDL with no Airbrake Restriction or equivalent from another state and obtain a valid Class A CDL with no Airbrake Restriction and Tanker Endorsement within 6 months of initial placement into the position.
• Incumbent will be subject to drug and alcohol testing and must pass pre-placement drug tests for marijuana, cocaine, opiates, PCP, MDMA, MDA, MDEA, and 6-AM.

Responsibilities

• Maintains roadways for snow and ice control.
• Prepares and inspects winter equipment.
• Performs preseason snow route inspection and post-storm cleanup.
• Performs winter stockpile setup and transfer of anti-icing and de-icing chemicals.
• Performs all work related to installing, repairing, maintaining, and removing snow fences; replacing mailboxes.
• Maintain documentation on snow and ice data for inventory and resource management.
• Performs traffic control set-ups and notifies dispatch of disabled vehicles.
