Job summary

State of Minnesota is hiring Temporary Snowplow Operators for MnDOT District 6A in various locations. Roles are emergency, intermittent, with shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays. CDL with tanker endorsement within 6 months is required, and pre-employment drug testing applies.

English proficiency and ability to report within one hour of call are essential. Positions may require overtime and variable shifts; incumbents must pass drug tests and undergo background checks.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Class A or B CDL with no Airbrake Restriction, or equivalent, and obtain Class A CDL with no Airbrake Restriction and Tanker Endorsement within 6 months of placement.
• Incumbent subject to drug and alcohol testing; pre-placement drug test required for marijuana, cocaine, opiates, PCP, amphetamines, and acetyl morphine.
• Must be registered in FMCSA Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse.

Responsibilities

• Maintain roadways for snow and ice control.
• Prepare and inspect winter equipment.
• Perform preseason snow route inspection and post-storm cleanup.
• Handle snow fences installation, repair, and removal; mailbox replacements.
• Maintain snow/ice data for inventory reporting.
• Set up traffic control and notify dispatch of disabled vehicles.
