Job summary

State of Minnesota is seeking Temporary Snowplow Operators in MnDOT District 6A with roles as Transportation Generalist or Transportation Associate. Positions are emergency, intermittent, and may be filled across Albert Lea, Austin, Dresbach, Owatonna, Red Wing, Rochester, Stewartville, and Winona.

CDL required; shifts include nights and weekends during snow events. New hires must pass drug tests and background screenings.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of English sufficient to read, write, speak and understand oral and written information.
• Willingness to work night and weekend shifts; ability to work in harsh winter conditions.
• Must pass pre-employment background checks and drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Maintains roadways for snow and ice control.
• Prepares and inspects winter equipment.
• Performs preseason snow route inspection and post-storm cleanup.
• Performs winter stockpile setup and transfer of anti-icing and de-icing chemicals.
• Installs, repairs, maintains, and removes snow fences; replaces mailboxes.
• Maintains documentation on snow and ice data for inventory and resource management.
• Performs traffic control set-ups or notifies dispatch of disabled vehicles.
