National Public Safety Careers is seeking 911 Call Takers for a role in Penrose, CO. Call Takers are often the first contact in emergencies, asking targeted questions, confirming locations, and documenting information for responders.

Duties include answering calls, verifying incident details, entering data into call-processing software, and forwarding information to the dispatch function. Work may include 24/7 shifts, nights, weekends, or overtime.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Strong listening, typing, and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in customer service or public safety helpful but not always required.

Responsibilities

• Answer incoming emergency calls and assigned nonemergency lines
• Confirm the incident location and caller’s callback information
• Use approved questions to identify the nature and urgency of the situation
• Enter accurate details into call-processing or dispatch software
• Forward incident information promptly to the appropriate dispatch function
• Help distressed callers focus on essential questions and instructions
• Use approved language-access and accessibility resources when needed
• Provide authorized pre-arrival instructions only within training and certification
