Job summary

Coinbase, Inc. is seeking a senior engineer to own and accelerate the Compliance automation roadmap, embedding with Compliance leadership and frontline teams to surface high-leverage opportunities.

You will prototype rapidly on Coinbase's AI platform, translate complex regulatory workflows into engineering requirements, and drive adoption with governance, auditability, and human-in-the-loop controls. The role emphasizes building trusted, auditable AI-enabled compliance outputs and guiding

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience in ambiguous, stakeholder-heavy environments.
• Hands-on experience deploying LLM-based applications, including prompt engineering and human-in-the-loop design.
• Proven ability to embed with non-technical domain experts and translate workflows into engineering requirements.
• Familiarity with transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, regulatory filing workflows, and audit-ready data handling.
• Experience in compliance-tech, RegTech, or financial services environments is a plus.
• Responsible use of generative AI with human oversight to improve workflow efficiency and quality.

Responsibilities

• Embed with Compliance leadership and frontline teams to surface high-leverage automation opportunities.
• Prototype quickly using Coinbase's AI platform as the default foundation.
• Own the Compliance automation roadmap in partnership with Compliance leadership.
• Define build-vs-buy strategy for Compliance tooling and determine internal vs external options.
• Ensure all automated outputs are traceable, auditable, and defensible to regulators with governance controls.
• Drive adoption through internal sessions and feedback loops to ensure tool usage.
