Job summary

Coinbase, Inc. is seeking a founding engineer to embed with the Compliance organization and lead the automation roadmap for regulatory workflows.

You will prototype with Coinbase's AI platform, translate complex regulatory processes into engineering requirements, and ensure outputs are auditable and defensible to regulators. Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering in ambiguous, stakeholder-heavy environments.
• Hands-on experience deploying LLM-based applications, including prompt engineering and evaluation frameworks.
• Ability to embed with non-technical domain experts and translate workflows into engineering requirements.
• Familiarity with compliance and regulatory workflows and audit-ready data handling.
• Experience with multi-agent orchestration concepts and agent handoffs.

Responsibilities

• Embed with Compliance leadership and frontline teams to surface automation opportunities with high business leverage.
• Prototype quickly using Coinbase's AI platform as the default foundation.
• Own the Compliance automation roadmap in partnership with leadership.
• Define build-vs-buy strategy for Compliance tooling.
• Ensure automated outputs are traceable, auditable, and regulator-ready.
• Drive adoption through brown-bags, prototypes, and feedback loops.
