Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a senior engineer to embed with Compliance, owning the automation roadmap and driving AI-powered workflow improvements across transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, and regulatory change management. Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience delivering production systems in complex, stakeholder-heavy settings.
• Hands-on experience deploying LLM-based applications and building evaluation frameworks.
• Ability to rapidly internalize workflows from non-technical stakeholders and translate them into engineering tasks.
• Familiarity with compliance and regulatory systems like transaction monitoring and sanctions screening.
• Experience in forward-deployed/embedded advisory roles, ideally in finance or RegTech.

Responsibilities

• Embed with Compliance leadership and frontline teams to surface high-leverage automation opportunities.
• Prototype quickly using Coinbase's AI platform as a baseline before suggesting new builds.
• Own the Compliance automation roadmap with leadership, translating regulatory workflows into engineering requirements.
• Define build-vs-buy strategy for Compliance tooling and evaluate internal vs external options.
• Ensure automated outputs are auditable, traceable, and defensible for regulators with proper controls.
• Drive adoption through internal knowledge-sharing sessions and feedback loops.
