Job summary

ABB is seeking a Field Application Engineer to serve the Los Angeles area, acting as the technical lead for MV/LV switchgear, switchboards, transformers, and power monitoring solutions. You will collaborate with consultants, end users, EPCs and contractors to ensure ABB products meet project specifications and achieve preferred manufacturer status.

You will work with the local sales team, educate customers on complex electrical concepts, and demonstrate arc-flash mitigation benefits using tools

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in engineering, electrical preferred.
• Minimum 5+ years in electrical distribution industry.
• PE certification preferred.
• Fluent in English; strong written and spoken communication.

Responsibilities

• Define electrical project needs, provide design assistance, product selection, and value engineering to gain acceptance into specifications.
• Be the local product expert in MV/LV switchgear, switchboards, transformers, and related devices.
• Show knowledge of short circuit, coordination and arc flash mitigation concepts using tools like SKM or Easy Power.
• Educate customers and engineers; develop papers for IEEE and industry events; capture voice of the customer for product teams.
