Job summary

Colonial Group is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to provide high-level technical support to Project Managers on small to mid-size electrical projects, with limited direction and may be positioned on a project site.

This exempt role interfaces with customers and field teams, generates and quality checks submittals, RFIs, change orders and minutes, and helps manage procurement, documentation, and project costs to meet schedules.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of electrical project support experience.
• Ability to analyze electrical terminology, drawings, and theory.
• Graduation from an accredited electrical apprenticeship program or a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Actively manage small to mid-size electrical projects with limited oversight.
• Generate and quality control all project documentation including submittals, RFIs, change orders and meeting minutes.
• Coordinate material requisition, purchase orders, on-site walks, and procurement activities.
• Assist in directing project activities and ensure adherence to policies and standards.
• Ensure the project quality control plan is in effect and followed.
• Interact with Subcontractors to obtain accurate documentation and drawings.
• Monitor progress of other contractors and provide status updates to field team.
• Provide technical support to PM and Superintendent, and serve as secondary client contact.
• Assist with bidding, quantity take-offs, and solicit quotes from subs and suppliers.
• Attend pre-job walks and develop material lists for estimators.
