Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is hiring a Product Design Electrical Engineer for the EPS team to design, develop, and improve electrical power distribution products used across our data center footprint. You will lead design efforts for medium voltage and low voltage gear, transformers, generators, busduct, and related infrastructure.

The role focuses on reliability, cost-effectiveness, and scalable solutions, with travel up to 30% and collaboration across internal and external teams.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities including but not limited to: data centers, power generation or oil and gas facilities
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
• Experience in commissioning

Responsibilities

• Solicit customer input and define design requirements for product design.
• Lead new product design, development and qualification of critical electrical power distribution equipment for AWS data centers.
• Develop Capex and Opex spending budgets with vendors, prototyping needs, testing and tooling.
• Work with global suppliers and manufacturers to specify electrical equipment and components for supply chain resiliency.
• Ensure compliance with UL, CSA, IEC and federal, state and municipal requirements across countries.
• Validate design through prototype, pre-production and first-of-kind builds and update design documentation.
• Collaborate with field engineering and commissioning teams to test and validate installation and performance.
• Provide support for manufacturing activities on concurrent projects in multiple locations.
• Be a leader within the product development team and with internal/external teams

Education

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
