Job summary

Jacobs is seeking an Electrical SME to lead power systems for hyperscale data center programs, from utility interconnection through IT equipment receptacle, including MV/LV distribution, UPS topology, generator paralleling and switchgear. The role blends deep technical authority with client-facing leadership, mentoring across teams, and governance of deliverables for quality and code compliance.

Expect a primarily office-based, hybrid environment with up to 10–15% travel.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited electrical engineering degree required; PE license required.
• 20+ years as a professional electrical engineer; 15+ years in data center or mission-critical design.
• Expertise in MV/LV distribution design, UPS, generator paralleling, and redundancy for Tier III/IV facilities.
• Proficiency with ETAP, SKM PowerTools, EasyPower; short-circuit, arc flash, and load-flow studies.
• Knowledge of NEC/NFPA/IEEE standards and design-delivery tools such as AutoCAD Electrical and Revit MEP.

Responsibilities

• Lead upfront power systems planning for hyperscale clients, defining MV/LV architecture and redundancy strategies.
• Drive the full power chain from MV switchgear to UPS, generator paralleling, transfer switching, PDUs, and busways; perform power studies.
• Champion energy efficiency, BESS integration, renewables, and AI/GPU density scaling; develop standards and libraries.
• Provide governance for electrical deliverables across disciplines; support commissioning and IST for critical power systems.
• Represent Jacobs externally at workshops and industry forums; participate in RFPs and client presentations.
• Mentor engineers and designers; contribute to standards, reference designs, and reusable calculation packages.
