Job summary

Jacobs seeks an Electrical SME to lead power systems for hyperscale data center programs. You will shape MV/LV distribution, UPS topology, and generator paralleling while aligning with utility interconnections and reliability targets.

You will mentor engineers, engage with clients, and influence strategic pursuit through technical differentiation, standards development, and industry collaboration. Hybrid travel to project sites is expected.

Qualifications

• PE license active in at least one U.S. state; required for employment.
• 20+ years of professional electrical engineering experience; 15+ years in mission-critical data center or advanced technology facility design.
• Proven expertise in MV/LV distribution design, UPS topology, generator paralleling, transfer switching, and redundancy architecture.
• Proficiency with short-circuit studies, arc flash analysis (IEEE 1584), and load flow modeling.
• Familiarity with NEC/NFPA 70, NFPA 110, NFPA 72, IEEE 3000-series, NESC, IEC, and Uptime Institute criteria.

Responsibilities

• Lead upfront power systems planning for hyperscale data center programs, defining MV/LV distribution and redundancy strategies.
• Drive full power chain from MV switchgear to UPS, generators, transfer switching, PDUs, and busway; conduct power systems studies.
• Champion innovations in efficiency, BESS integration, renewables, and AI/GPU density scaling.
• Provide technical governance across disciplines, review calculations, drawings, and submittals for code compliance.
• Mentor electrical engineers and represent Jacobs in IEEE, NFPA, Uptime Institute activities.
