Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking an Engineer to support the design, development, and implementation of generator control switchgear systems within the Electric Power Division.

You will deliver automation and control solutions for complex power systems, working both independently and with teams to execute retrofit and new projects from concept through commissioning. You will identify retrofit opportunities, develop scope, design, program, test, and commission control systems while collaborating with

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (preferred) or equivalent experience.
• Experience with automation and controls; PLC/HMI familiarity.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Identify retrofit opportunities and define project scope with Dealer and Factory teams
• Execute design, programming, testing, and commissioning of LV/MV generator control systems
• Convert legacy PLCs to current platforms and validate performance
• Develop and modify PLC and HMI applications using standard templates
• Collaborate with CAD designers to produce wiring drawings
• Perform technical risk assessment and support field performance
• Provide technical support to AES Sales and Product Support Center teams
• Submit project documentation and expenses timely
• Train technicians, customers, and internal teams on maintenance and operation
