Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. in the United States is seeking an electrical engineering professional to support the Electric Power Division. You will design, implement, and commission generator control switchgear systems, delivering automation solutions and cross-functional collaboration from concept through commissioning.

You will work on retrofit and new projects, train teams, and develop PLC/HMI applications while traveling up to 50% and leveraging cross-functional support to meet customer needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering preferred or equivalent experience.
• Experience with automation and controls, PLCs, HMIs, and DCS across projects.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Identify retrofit opportunities, define project scope, and support proposals.
• Execute design, programming, testing, and commissioning of generator control systems.
• Convert legacy PLC programs to current platforms and validate performance.
• Develop and modify PLC and HMI applications using standard templates.
• Partner with CAD designers to produce wiring and assembly drawings.
• Perform risk assessment and support field performance of projects.
• Submit project documentation, reports, and expenses on time.
• Train technicians, customers, and internal teams on maintenance and operation.
