Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking an electrical engineering professional to support generator control switchgear systems within the Electric Power Division.

You will deliver automation and control solutions for complex power systems, working independently and with teams from concept to commissioning. Responsibilities include design, programming, testing, and commissioning; converting legacy PLCs; developing PLC/HMI apps; and providing training to technicians and customers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering preferred or equivalent experience.
• Strong focus on customer needs and delivering solutions.
• Experience with automation and controls including PLC and HMIs.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and blueprints.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Identify retrofit opportunities, define project scope, and support proposals.
• Design, program, test, and commission low-/medium-voltage control systems.
• Convert legacy PLCs to current platforms and validate performance.
• Develop PLC and HMI applications using standard templates.
• Collaborate with CAD designers to produce wiring drawings.
• Assess technical risk and support field performance on projects.
• Submit project docs, reports, and expenses promptly.
• Train and support technicians, customers, and teams on maintenance and operation.
