Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking an Electrical Engineer/Technologist to design, develop, and implement automation and control solutions for advanced generator switchgear systems.

You will manage projects from concept through commissioning, delivering reliable automation for complex power setups. The role emphasizes retrofit and new-system projects, collaborating with dealers, factories, and cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field or equivalent experience.
• Experience with automation and controls design and implementation.

Responsibilities

• Identify retrofit opportunities and define project scope with Dealer and Factory teams.
• Execute design, programming, testing, and commissioning of LV/MV generator paralleling systems.
• Convert legacy PLC programs to current platforms and validate performance.
• Develop and modify PLC and HMI applications using standard templates.
• Collaborate with CAD to produce wiring and assembly drawings.
• Provide technical support to Sales and Product Support teams; escalate as needed.
• Submit project documentation, reports, and expenses promptly.
• Train customers and technicians on maintenance and operation of systems.
