Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a role within the Electric Power Division to design, develop, and implement generator control switchgear systems.

You will deliver automation and control solutions for complex power systems, working both independently and with teams to execute retrofit and new projects from concept through commissioning. The position requires hands-on design, programming, testing, and field support, with a focus on PLCs, HMIs, and control architectures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering preferred or equivalent experience
• Customer focus and service excellence in delivering solutions
• Experience with automation, PLCs, HMIs, and DCS
• Ability to read electrical schematics and power systems concepts

Responsibilities

• Identify retrofit opportunities and support proposal development with Dealer and Factory teams
• Design, programming, testing, and commissioning of low- and medium-voltage generator control systems
• Convert legacy PLC programs to current platforms and validate performance
• Develop and modify PLC and HMI applications using standard templates
• Collaborate with CAD designers to produce wiring and assembly drawings
• Perform technical risk assessment and support field performance of projects
• Submit project documentation, reports, and expenses in a timely manner
• Train and support technicians, customers, and internal teams on maintenance and operation as needed
