Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. in the United States seeks a highly motivated Electrical Power Division engineer to design, develop, and implement generator control switchgear systems.

You will deliver automation and control solutions for complex power systems, executing retrofit and new projects from concept to commissioning. This role requires cross-functional collaboration with dealer and factory teams, experience with PLC/HMI applications, and the ability to read electrical schematics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Experience with automation and controls, PLCs, HMIs, and DCS.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet background/medical requirements.

Responsibilities

• Identify retrofit opportunities and support proposal development with Dealer and Factory teams.
• Execute design, programming, testing, and commissioning of LV/MV generator control systems.
• Convert legacy PLC programs to current platforms and validate performance.
• Develop and modify PLC and HMI applications using standard templates.
• Collaborate with CAD designers to produce wiring and assembly drawings.
• Provide technical support to Sales and Product Support teams; escalate as needed.
• Train customers and technicians on maintenance, troubleshooting, and system operation.
