Job summary

The Vertex Companies, LLC seeks an Electrical Forensic Engineer in Washington, DC area to investigate electrical system failures across residential, commercial, and industrial settings. You will work with seasoned forensic engineers on field inspections, evidence analysis, and reporting for clients, carriers, attorneys, and other stakeholders.

This role blends engineering, fieldwork, and investigative analysis for curious, detail-oriented professionals with strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of related experience (or advanced degree with no experience)
• EIT certification required
• PE license preferred but not required

Responsibilities

• Conduct forensic investigations of electrical system failures, fires, and incidents.
• Perform site inspections to document conditions and collect evidence.
• Analyze evidence, data, and documentation to determine root causes.
• Develop engineering opinions supported by standards and best practices.
• Prepare clear technical reports for clients and stakeholders.
• Review drawings, specifications, and maintenance records.
• Perform calculations and research to support findings and recommendations.
• Assist with litigation support and expert analyses as required.
