Job summary

Vertex Companies is seeking an Electrical Forensic Engineer in the NY metro area to investigate electrical system failures and incidents across residential, commercial, and industrial settings. You will perform field inspections, analyze evidence, and prepare technical reports for clients, carriers, and attorneys.

The role blends engineering, fieldwork, and investigative analysis with opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering with at least 2 years of related experience.
  • EIT certification required.
  • PE license preferred, but not required.
  • Background in electrical testing or forensic investigations is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct forensic investigations of electrical system failures, fires, explosions, equipment damage, and power distribution issues.
  • Perform site inspections to document conditions, collect evidence, and evaluate electrical components and systems.
  • Analyze physical evidence, engineering data, testing results, and documentation to determine the cause and origin of failures.
  • Develop engineering opinions supported by technical analysis, applicable standards, and industry best practices.
  • Prepare clear, concise, and defensible technical reports summarizing investigative findings and conclusions.
  • Review electrical drawings, specifications, maintenance records, incident reports, and other relevant documentation.
  • Perform engineering calculations and technical research to support findings and recommendations.
  • Assist with litigation support activities, including preparation of exhibits, case documentation, and expert analyses as required.
