Vertex Companies in the United States seeks an Electrical Forensic Engineer to investigate electrical system failures across residential, commercial, and industrial settings. You will perform field inspections, analyze evidence, and prepare technical reports for clients, insurers, attorneys, and stakeholders.

This role blends engineering, fieldwork, and investigative analysis, requiring curiosity, attention to detail, and the ability to explain complex concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or higher with related experience.
  • EIT certification required; PE preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct forensic investigations of electrical system failures, including fires, explosions, and equipment damage.
  • Perform site inspections and document conditions, collect evidence, and evaluate electrical components.
  • Analyze data, testing results, and documentation to determine cause and origin of failures.
  • Develop engineering opinions supported by standards and best practices.
  • Prepare clear, defensible technical reports summarizing findings and conclusions.
  • Review drawings, maintenance records, and incident reports to support conclusions.
  • Assist with litigation support including exhibits and expert analyses.
  • Travel to loss sites and client locations as needed.
