Job summary

Vertex is seeking an Electrical Forensic Engineer in Philadelphia to investigate electrical system failures across residential, commercial, and industrial settings. You will conduct field inspections, analyze evidence, and prepare defensible reports for clients and legal teams.

In this role you’ll work with experienced forensic engineers, applying NEC, NFPA, and IEEE standards while managing investigations, coordinating with stakeholders, and contributing to litigation support when needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
• EIT certification required.
• PE license preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct forensic investigations of electrical system failures.
• Perform site inspections to document conditions and collect evidence.
• Analyze evidence to determine the cause and origin of failures.
• Develop engineering opinions supported by standards and best practices.
• Prepare clear technical reports summarizing findings and conclusions.
• Review electrical drawings, maintenance records, and incident reports.
• Perform engineering calculations and research to support recommendations.
• Assist with litigation support and exhibit preparation as needed.
