Job summary

Hanson Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a licensed electrical engineer (or eligible) to design medium- and high-voltage power systems for renewable energy projects across the United States.

You will work with multidisciplinary teams, prepare construction packages, perform HV studies, and support field operations. The role requires strong design skills, client communication, and the ability to travel with a flexible schedule to meet project deadlines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
• PE licensure or ability to obtain within six months.
• Minimum 5 years of consulting experience in medium- and high-voltage power system design.
• Experience preparing electrical construction drawings, specs, submittal reviews, and construction administration for power projects.
• Graduate degree or professional registrations are a plus.
• General Contractor License is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design medium- and high-voltage power distribution systems for renewable energy projects (solar, wind, BESS, EV charging, microgrids).
• Perform traditional transmission and distribution design, both underground and overhead.
• Prepare specs, calculations, drawings, and full construction packages for 15kV–200kV systems including substations.
• Conduct QA/QC to ensure compliance with standards.
• Support field personnel for HV collection systems, substations, and equipment up to 200kV.
• Perform electrical studies: short-circuit, arc flash, load flow, power factor, relay coordination.
• Troubleshoot electrical equipment in renewable energy facilities.
• Collaborate with civil/structural teams and coordinate with multiple offices remotely.
• Conduct feasibility, conceptual designs, and inverter-based resource interconnection studies; prepare utility master plans.
• Participate in project management tasks: client meetings, design coordination, shop drawings, construction administration.
• Mentor engineers within Power Market team.
• Travel occasionally for client meetings and field reviews; extended hours as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
